Segment: Students
The segment I choose was students because the opportunity I'm trying to help is based upon the STD rates among students. All three of my interviewees are students here at UF, the first one is in ZTA here on campus, the second is a Beta, and the third is a grad student who used to be a part of Greek life during his undergrad.
My Findings:
All the interviewees said the condom vending machine was good in theory but they wouldn't use it very often, My first interviewee said that she's not apart of the "hook-up" crowd and that even though she's single she still wouldn't sleep with a random guy, but that she thinks the vending machine being put in the fraternity house would be a better option then the bars. During my second interview, the Beta said he would definitely use the vending machine. He said that the option to buy single condoms was more appealing than buying a whole box and it would give me a variety to choose from depending on the mood he or his partner is in that night. In my last interview with a male who is now in grad school, he said that in the moment he still wouldn't have thought to go to a vending machine to get a condom and that he was worried about not getting the girl pregnant more than contracting an STD so as long as she was on birth control he didn't think much about protection.
My conclusion:
Students in the moment will worry about protection against pregnancy more than protection against an STD. This would still be a good investment for college dorms and greek areas for the people who do worry about contracting STD's and it will also fight to lower pregnancy rates on campus.
Pretty bold to go out and interview people in Greek life of a sort and ask them about their history with STDs and preventive measures. A bold move that I respect greatly. If more people were willing to openly talk about and discuss serious solutions and innovations to the way that we live our lives in all aspects, I think the world would be a better place. I think people like you understand this, as well.
ReplyDeleteI think that your product could help a lot of people, it is also crazy to think that people are really only thinking about protection about pregnancy and not STD's when in the moment. Certain types of these diseases can last your entire life and I think your product while making money, could also be used to bring awareness to college kids.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you interviewed people in greek life, given how involved greeks are in the hook up culture. I also think that it would be a good idea to place condom stations at fraternities. It would also be interesting if Uber drivers would start handing out condoms to drivers that are leaving mid town. Keep up the good interviews!
ReplyDeleteHey i loved it. I think it is important to understand the buyers needs, and what they really want. Because at the end of the day it is them the ones that make the business succeed.
