My Entrepreneurship Story

Back in my hometown of Lakeland Florida, there are a lot of family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. One that I have had close contact with was the owner of a coffee/ beignet shop, Robyn Wilson. Robyn started the Poor Porker so that the community could come together and people would have a place to embrace their creativity. She was so inspiring to talk to and it's amazing that with all the success she's had since opening in 2015 that she still works every day and is actively involved in improving her shop and the experience of her customers. Robyn has inspired so many artists, writers, and musicians since opening her downs and more and more come each day, she is truly an icon in Lakeland. Here are some pictures of her shop so you can see for yourself how quaint and friendly the environment is.

  1. How cute! My family in Arkansas use to have a restaurant with a similar vibe. Robyn seems like a wonderful person to learn from about being a store owner! I hope to have an impact, like she has on you, to someone in the future! I love the rustic scene she has created. Communities need places like these to come together and communicate!

  2. You're very fortunate to have had connection with that kind of business in my opinion. I spent my adolescent years in a similar, small town kind of area with local businesses all over. A place like the Poor Porker we had where I'm from, and while I loved going there to meet up with people I always did wonder what was going on behind the doors of the business.
